New Sayoc Trainers! Just Awesome!

Merry Christmas everyone!
This is such a great deal I thought I'd post it here for those of you who may not have visited the Sayoc.com website lately. As most of you know, I believe the Sayoc designed trainers are the best in the world. There are several reasons for this that I'll explain later in this post, but right now look at these prices! 35.00 for a trainer! That's awesome, normally they are 49.00. So if you are missing blades from your rig or looking to start your first rig, NOW IS THE TIME TO DO IT!!

Back in the 80's and early 90's we used to train with anything that looked like a blade. We used wooden trainers, which I enjoyed making from exotic woods, etc. But they splintered and eventually broke, chipped or became dangerous to use.
I would go to pawn shops and buy cheap old knives, dull them and round off the tip and use them for trainers! Terrible, just terrible. Eventually I would cut my partner or really hurt them due to the fact that the blades were steel!

Steel trainers deliver too much energy into your partner. So if you hit them, they get cut or get a cracked bone in the hand, arm or face.

Another thing is that most trainers try to look like some kind of specialty knife, with pointed punyos (butt of handle) or some kind of hand guard. Well, you can get away with that kind of stuff if your not really working hard on another partner. If your just waving your blade around in the air or pretending to cut your partner by passing it by him without contact. but if your really dragging it on your partner, actually thrusting him with intent, then you will really hurt him.

The Sayoc trainers have no sharp punyos with which to break your partners hands, no handguard that will crack a cheekbone or cause your own thumb to get sheared and the flesh ripped from it. They are solid, safe and well thought out.
Now Sayoc.com has a wider variety of designs and options for you to choose from! You can get super shiney blades or anodized black (my personal favorite). You can also choose from a wider variety of color options for the handles. So now you can have your choice and personalize your rig.

As with any martial arts gear, care and proper instruction are required to maintain a measure of safety. So make sure buy quality training gear and seek out a certified Sayoc Kali Instructor in your area to get the most out of training.

Warrior's Way on Local News !!!

Due to recent purse snatching and other attacks on shoppers over the holiday season, local news crew from Kauz came to Warrior's Way to interview Guro Harley about crime prevention tips, what to do if attacked and other topics.

The link below will take you to a video of the interview. During the interview, Mr. Pete Powell served as the bad guy (Dummy) where he got slapped around and the reporter Ms. Heather Mills PEPPER SPRAYED HIM IN THE FACE for a demonstration!

25 Years of Martial Arts and Counting!

A pic from the early days of training with the legendary Tuhon Chris Sayoc. A truly amazing man, it's an honor to represent him and his family.

Skill. He's already stabbed me and left on blade in my armpit, thrust me in the neck while pinning my blade hand and is drawing a blade from my rig to continue! Mad Skills yo!

Great Apprentice Camp!

This year's Warrior's Way International Apprentice Camp was a great success!

Along with some great training we were able to train with a wide variety of training partners which allowed people to share various tips, techniques and some personal favorites with other people.

We were also able to focus on some areas that maybe some Apprentices hadn't had as much time on task as they want, so we gave them some real training time. Remember there's a gigantic difference between learning speed, training speed and application speed! Just because you can walk through material doesn't mean you can actually perform it real time! So training should progress you toward real time application. So giving people some real training time, filing in some gaps and answering some questions was the goal of the weekend and I think we did some of all that.

Another great series of session (and so far the most popular) were the Full Instructor presentations on the specific arts. Each Full Instructor was tasked to do a presentation on a specific art. Some used video clips, some used slide shows, some used Power Point presentations and some used their dazzeling verbal and physical prowess to get the point across. All the presentations were excellent and based on the feedback I received so far, were enormously helpful to the Apprentice Instructors.

As always I would like to thank my beautiful wife Krytal for all her help making this possible.

I would like to thank Guro Chuck Giangreco, Guro Chad Silvis and Guro Brandon Bennett for being there, helping to teach and inspire the new crop to accomplish their goals.

And of course I would like to thank all the Apprentice Instructors who made it out for some great training! I'm really pleased with the hard work and effort you all showed this weekend, keep it up and I promise you CAN achieve your goals!
